Job Summary

The Chief Risk Officer, Absa Regional Operations, is responsible for overseeing the risk management function across the region. This includes developing and implementing risk management strategies, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing risk management advice to senior management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate potential risks and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide risk management advice to senior management and ensure that risk management is integrated into business decision-making.
  • Oversee the risk management function across the region, including the development and implementation of risk management policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that risk management is aligned with the overall business strategy and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including regulators, customers, and business partners.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience in risk management, preferably in a banking or financial services environment.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing effective risk management strategies.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and risk management frameworks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and projects.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Postgraduate degree in a relevant field, such as risk management, finance, or business.
  • Professional certifications, such as CFA or FRM.
  • Experience working in a multinational, multi-segment environment with matrix reporting structures.
