Chief Risk Officer, Absa Regional Operations

Job Summary

The Chief Risk Officer, Absa Regional Operations, is responsible for leading the risk management function across the region. This includes developing and implementing risk strategies, advising management and the Board on significant risk exposures, and managing risk in alignment with relevant policies and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing and implementing risk strategies to mitigate potential risks and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Advising management and the Board on significant risk exposures and risk mitigation options.
  • Managing risk in alignment with relevant policies and standards, including the development and implementation of risk management frameworks.
  • Supporting management with external engagement with regulators and other stakeholders.
  • Participating in Executive Committees and contributing to functional and business strategy.

Requirements:

  • BSc Hons Degree, BCom Hons, MBA, Masters, CA or a related NQF Level 9 equivalent qualification.
  • Ten (10+) years' experience in the Banking sector, with five (5) years' experience on a senior management level.
  • Strategic thinking and communication skills, stakeholder management on a senior level, proven leadership and problem-solving abilities.
