Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Head of Operations Manager to join our team at Mertech Marine (Pty) Ltd. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of our recycling facility, ensuring the smooth running of production and logistics processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Production Management: Oversee the production process, including planning, supervision, and problem-solving to ensure efficient and effective operations.
  • Logistics Management: Manage incoming and outgoing cargo, including import, export, and logistics operations.
  • Staff Management: Collaborate with the HR Manager to manage staff, including recruitment, training, and performance management.
  • Operational Expenses: Manage operational expenses, including budgeting and cost control.
  • Inventory Control: Oversee inventory management, including stock control and management.
  • Compliance: Monitor compliance with policies, procedures, and legislation, and implement measures to rectify non-compliance.
  • Metrics and KPIs: Develop and monitor production metrics and KPIs to ensure optimal performance.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Operations/Production Management qualification or equivalent with relevant experience.
  • Experience: At least 10 years of operational experience within a manufacturing environment and at least 5 years of management experience.
  • Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude, excellent leadership skills, and excellent attention to detail.
  • Education: Relevant education and training in operations management or a related field.

Competencies:

  • People Management: Strong people management skills in an industrial environment.
  • Leadership: Excellent leadership skills with proven planning, organizing, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Technical Skills: Microsoft 365 and at least Intermediate Excel abilities.
