Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Business Development Manager to lead our inbound tour operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the team's desks during consultants' leave, managing requotes, and ensuring seamless execution of proposals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Team Leadership: Manage relevant teammates' desks while consultants are on leave, ensuring continuity and efficiency in daily operations.
  • Brochure Quotes: Assist with generating accurate and timely brochure quotes, maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Agent Education: Collaborate with Sales to develop and deliver agent educational bookings, hosted educational bookings, and workshops.
  • System Implementation: Participate in implementing new systems and procedures, assist with testing, and ensure smooth integration.
  • Provisional Bookings: Chase provisional bookings for all relevant teams, minimizing delays and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Lead Follow-up: During quiet periods, proactively follow up on dead leads, maximizing conversion rates.
  • Peak Booking Periods: Assist consultants during peak booking periods by loading bookings efficiently and effectively.
  • Itinerary Design: Create engaging and creative itineraries that meet client expectations and preferences.
  • Communication: Foster consistent and clear communication with agents, sales teams, preferred supplier partners, and colleagues.
  • Emergency Duties: Share emergency duties on a rotational basis, adhering to the Retail Emergency BOP.
  • Working Hours: Work early and late shifts on a weekly rotational basis, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
  • Customer Service: Maintain a calm and professional demeanor when servicing agents and guests, ensuring exceptional customer experience.
Requirements:

  • Tourplan and Microsoft Systems: Possess an in-depth knowledge of Tourplan and Microsoft systems, with a willingness to learn and adapt.
  • Geographical Knowledge: Have a good understanding of South Africa, Southern, and East Africa, with a preference for those with extensive knowledge of these regions.
  • Continuous Learning: Embrace a willingness and aptitude to always assist, learn, and grow within the role.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Terms and Conditions: Possess a good understanding of terms and conditions, product knowledge, third-party, and company product destinations.
  • Travel Industry Channels: Understand the various travel industry channels and how they operate.
  • Market Understanding: Have a comprehensive understanding of the different markets in which our company operates.
  • Commercial Acumen: Demonstrate relevant understanding of business to create and formulate strategies and make commercial decisions.
  • Sales Process: Familiarity with sales process and methodologies, with the ability to apply them effectively.
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively.
  • Teamwork: Proven ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, contributing to a positive and productive work environment.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Tourplan, with a willingness to learn WETU.

Experience:
  • Inbound Tour Consulting: Minimum 5 years of previous inbound tour consulting experience required, with a proven track record of success and a deep understanding of the industry.

Estimated salary: R250,000 - R350,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
