About the Role

The Cape Town Holocaust and Genocide Centre is seeking an experienced and passionate Executive Director to lead our team in delivering high-quality educational programmes, exhibitions, and outreach initiatives. As the public face of the Centre, you will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders, including the Jewish community, government, and international partners.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Education and Programming
  • Develop and implement creative educational programmes, activities, and events for schools and the broader community.
  • Work with the Education Director to ensure that our programmes reflect the latest research on the Holocaust and are sensitive to the experiences of Holocaust survivors.
Exhibitions and Outreach
  • Provide leadership and vision for the development of exhibitions, including travelling exhibitions and the permanent exhibition.
  • Oversee the production, distribution, and viewing schedule for exhibitions.
Archive and Research
  • Have oversight of the Centre's archive and work closely with the archivist to develop and maintain the archive.
Communication and Fundraising
  • Drive and implement outreach, communication, and fundraising strategies.
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including donors and funders.
Requirements

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced individual with a strong background in education, museum management, or a related field. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A postgraduate degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience in managing educational programmes, exhibitions, and outreach initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Strong fundraising and grant-writing skills.
