Job Description

The successful candidate will report to the Sanlam Head of Actuarial Reporting for Life Insurance. The role involves managing the life insurance actuarial function across an assigned portfolio of businesses in the Sanlam portfolio. This includes taking responsibility for actuarial governance and delivery in line with overall Sanlam requirements and processes.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Manage high-quality, timeous, and adequate actuarial reporting for management and statutory purposes based on overall Sanlam requirements.

  2. Manage the delivery of actuarial valuations, value of new business, embedded value (EV), and analysis of EV earnings, capital requirements including SAM solvency.

  3. Manage the delivery of asset-liability management and experience analyses.

  4. Manage and report on financial soundness, specifically capital requirements and return on capital.

  5. Manage the delivery of actuarial content into the actuarial and life reinsurance and underwriting committees as per the annual planner.

  6. Participate in and oversee local actuarial committees.
