The SEM actuarial function provides actuarial support to all of the SEM life businesses. This ranges from performing the end-to-end actuarial function to providing expert input and review support, depending on the maturity of the in-country actuarial function. The role presents an opportunity to get exposure to a diverse range of markets, businesses, cultures and stakeholders.
The role will provide actuarial and business support to the life insurance businesses in the SEM portfolio. This will involve working closely with senior management and with the actuarial functions of the businesses. Responsibilities will include valuations and reporting, experience monitoring, actuarial risk control, working with the SEM capital and product functions on capital and product management and collaboration with in-country management and actuarial teams. SEM covers a wide range of businesses and cultures and gives you the opportunity to gain experience across a wide range of actuarial disciplines. The SEM actuarial team has a focus on teamwork and collaboration but you will need to take full accountability for the business (or businesses) and projects that you are responsible for. Your ownership, problem-solving skills and focus on actuarial advice that adds value will be critical to your success.

Valuation and reporting
- Monthly valuation and management reporting
- Half-yearly valuation, management and embedded value reporting
- Local statutory reporting
- Annual budgets in consultation with in-country management
- Data management and improvement of processes
- IFRS 17 implementation
Experience monitoring
- Perform, analyse and explain results of experience investigations
- Initiative in resolving issues and upgrading the environment
Actuarial risk control
- Asset liability management
- Reinsurance management
Capital management
- Collaborate with SEM capital management teams
Product management
- Collaborate with SEM product management teams
- Provide group structuring and pricing support
Collaboration
- Establish and maintain relationships with in-country management and actuarial teams
- Training, development and mentorship of in-country actuarial environments
Ad-hoc projects as and when required
Qualification and Experience
- Actuarial student with good progress in completing actuarial exams
- Experience in a life insurance actuarial reporting environment including IFRS, EV, VNB and SAM bases
Knowledge and Skills
