The successful candidate will report to the Head of Actuarial Reporting for Life Insurance. This role is responsible for managing the life insurance actuarial function across an assigned portfolio of businesses.

Responsibilities include managing high-quality, timely, and adequate actuarial reporting for management and statutory purposes based on overall Sanlam Limited requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage actuarial valuations, value of new business, embedded value (EV), and EV earnings analysis.
  • Manage asset-liability management and experience analyses.
  • Manage financial soundness, specifically capital requirements and return on capital.
  • Deliver actuarial content into the actuarial and life reinsurance committees.

This role also involves planning, budgeting, and profitability management, as well as strategic input, direction, and alignment.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of life insurance actuarial valuations, solvency, and products, as well as expertise in financial risk management and leadership skills.
