About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing commercial risk by providing specialist technical underwriting advice. This is a highly technical role with a strong client focus, requiring effective underwriting of complex risks and negotiation with internal and external clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Effective underwriting of complex risks (new business, renewals, ad-hoc)
  • Identifying re-insurance and taking appropriate action
  • Providing quality and correct feedback on high-level technical queries
  • Working within higher-level mandates
  • Negotiating with internal and external clients
  • Building and maintaining relationships at various levels within the organisation
Requirements
  • A minimum of 10 years underwriting experience within a short-term commercial insurance industry required
  • Grade 12 qualification
  • IISA professional membership (associate)
  • FAIS compliant: NQF level 6 (Commercial Lines)
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel
  • Regulatory Examination (RE) advantageous
