Join Our Team at Open Secrets

We are seeking two outstanding candidates to join our small, dedicated team based in Cape Town. As a non-profit organisation, we work on issues of economic crime and its impact on human rights. Our mission is to hold private corporations and individuals accountable for these violations through investigative research, advocacy, and the law.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct investigations into economic crime in South Africa and other parts of Africa, summarise and archive research material.
  • Write reports and articles for our website, media partners, and social media platforms.
  • Assist in managing advocacy related to our investigations and litigation, including producing content for our social media platforms and website.
  • Collaborate with civil society partners.
  • Contribute to other Open Secrets work areas as needed.
  • Assist in managing our social media presence.
  • Create high-quality multimedia content for our social media platforms.
  • Assist in organising in-person and online events, including a People's Hearing on Economic Crime.
  • Collaborate with civil society partners.
  • Contribute to our profile series, Unaccountable.
  • Assist in drafting our newsletter.
Requirements:
  • Strong work ethic, integrity, and a commitment to social justice.
  • A team player with an inquisitive mind who values collaboration.
  • Ongoing or completed postgraduate studies in a related field (politics, history, economics, journalism, law, etc.).
  • Strong research, writing, and organisational skills.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite programmes (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Able to work through an intersectional lens.
  • Historically disadvantaged applicants are encouraged to apply.
  • Eligible to work in South Africa.
