About the Role

Oxyon Human Capital Solutions is seeking an experienced Environmental Health and Safety Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for developing and implementing health and safety policies and procedures in compliance with local and international regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Policy Development and Implementation: Develop and implement health and safety policies and procedures in compliance with local and international regulations.
  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards in the mining operation and develop risk mitigation strategies and controls to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Safety Training and Awareness: Design and deliver safety training programs for all employees, including induction training for new hires and refresher courses.
  • Incident Investigation and Reporting: Lead or support investigations into accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and prepare detailed reports recommending corrective actions.
  • Audits and Inspections: Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
  • Waste Management and Compliance: Implement and oversee waste management programs to ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste, and ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with employees, contractors, local communities, and other stakeholders on HSE issues, address concerns, and provide information on safety and environmental practices.
Requirements
  • National Diploma in Safety Management or related qualification.
  • At least 8 years of experience within mining, specifically mineral processing industry.
  • Professional Registration will be preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the Mining Safety Act.
