Job Title: Communications and Media Manager

The Black Sash mission is to promote socio-economic rights and social protection for vulnerable individuals, particularly women and children. We aim to reduce poverty and inequality through our work.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Communications and Media Manager to develop and communicate materials, messages, and work of the organization to a range of users, both external and internal, to support the programmes and fundraising aims of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a communications strategy to promote the organization's mission and goals.
  • Manage and maintain the organization's website and social media presence.
  • Plan and execute digital marketing campaigns, including email marketing and social media advertising.
  • Develop and implement a content calendar to ensure consistent and engaging content across all channels.
  • Collaborate with the program team to develop and implement communications plans to support programmatic work.
  • Monitor and analyze social media metrics to inform communications strategy and optimize content.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with media outlets and influencers to secure media coverage and partnerships.
Requirements:
  • Degree in digital media marketing, journalism, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in digital media and marketing or communications.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful communications strategies.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to produce high-quality content.
  • Excellent social media skills, with the ability to develop and implement effective social media campaigns.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to monitor and analyze social media metrics.
  • Fluency in English and at least one other South African language.
