Job Title: Senior Lecturer in Structural Engineering

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Senior Lecturer in Structural Engineering to join our team at Wits University. The successful candidate will have a strong research interest in structural dynamics and numerical modeling, a developing track record of research outputs in refereed publications of internationally excellent quality, and evidence of successful postgraduate student supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To teach discipline-related engineering courses as well as other basic civil engineering topics at undergraduate level.
  • To supervise the research of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
  • To lead a postgraduate coursework programme.
  • To contribute towards research and innovation through publications in high-quality outlets, including conference proceedings, journal papers, and book chapters.

Requirements:

  • A Doctoral degree in Structural Engineering / Design with a focus on Steel Structures is essential.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Civil / Structural Engineering is also required.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (PrEng), or eligibility for registration with ECSA, is also required.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • An NRF rating, a record of securing research funding, relevant industry experience, and evidence of research collaborations would be advantageous.
