Quantity Surveyor Job Description at Hire Resolve

Hire Resolve is seeking a skilled Quantity Surveyor to join its team in Johannesburg. This role involves managing the cost and financial aspects of construction projects across multiple disciplines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing detailed cost estimates and generating bills of quantities for various construction projects.
  • Preparing, managing, and negotiating project budgets, ensuring adherence to financial guidelines.
  • Assessing project risks and developing cost-effective strategies to mitigate those risks.
  • Collaborating with architects, engineers, and clients to deliver outstanding project results.
  • Monitoring project costs, preparing monthly reports detailing progress and identifying variances from the budget.
  • Maintaining updated knowledge of construction contracts, materials, and market prices.
  • Providing advice and support on contractual claims, variations, and final accounts.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor in a multi-disciplinary construction environment.
  • Proficient in using estimation software, particularly WinQS and DimensionX.
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts, including JBCC, FIDIC, and NEC.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills to effectively interact with clients and subcontractors.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
  • Professional registration with the SACQSP will be an advantage.
