Senior Quantity Surveyor

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor at The-Recruiter, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful delivery of construction projects. Your primary responsibility will be to manage and control all stages of projects within predetermined budgets and expenditures.
About the Role
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in quantity surveying within the construction industry, specifically in mechanical and electrical contracting organizations. You should possess excellent commercial acumen, numerical skills, and the ability to accurately forecast costs and sales. Additionally, you will need to be a team player with good organizational skills, planning abilities, and proficiency in using Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and Construction Costing Software.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare cost analysis based on architectural drawings, engineering estimates, materials required, and labor involved.
- Develop cost plans to enable design teams to produce practical designs for construction projects, which involve liaising with architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
- Prepare tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities.
- Evaluate tenders from contractors and subcontractors and negotiate where necessary.
- Monitor and track project progress, responsible for the measurement and valuation of variations in work during the contract, for agreement of interim payments and final accounts.
- Work as part of a team to ensure client requirements are met.
- Perform monthly valuations of work in progress, including forecasting of final costs and sales.
- Provide advice to project staff on commercial and contractual matters, reviewing and drafting correspondence.
- Commercially vet sub-contractor tenders and contracts.
- Certify sub-contractor monthly valuations and final accounts.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must possess:
- A Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field (4-year full-time or 5-year part-time).
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in quantity surveying within the construction industry.
- Excellent commercial acumen and numerical skills.
- Ability to accurately forecast costs and sales.
- Team player with good organizational skills, planning abilities, and proficiency in using Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and Construction Costing Software.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Salary Range
The salary range for this position is R1,200,000 - R1,500,000 per annum, depending on experience.
