About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Waste Management Cost Optimization Specialist to join our team. This individual will play a crucial role in assisting with various aspects of waste/refuse management, focusing on cost reduction and accurate municipal billing.

Key Responsibilities:

">
  • ">
  • Verify municipal utility accounts for accurate waste/refuse collection costs">
  • Work with Facilities Management to contract correct bin numbers and types">
  • Audit and verify all waste billing information on municipal invoices">
  • Perform variance analysis for buildings managed in-house and outsourced service providers">
  • Partner with Facilities Management to investigate recycling options and reduce contract prices">
  • Liaise with Facilities Management to ensure bins are placed outside for timely collection">
  • Log calls with council for missed collections and maintain clean waste areas">
  • Replace damaged/obsolete bins">
  • Maintain performance reports and standardized building reports">
  • Provide additional reports and reconciliations as requested by the billing manager">
  • Municipal engagement and general support">
  • On-site meter readings and data entry/capturing">
  • Tenant account reconciliation and resolving queries timeously">
  • Reviewing billing methodologies and ensuring correct tariffs">
  • Manage relationships between Company/Municipalities">
  • Regular reporting and risk management">
  • Utility accounting and administration functions">
  • Work with Utilities Management to ensure buildings are on beneficial tariffs">
  • Utilities audits and compliance with relevant Acts">

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of municipal processes, tariffs, and waste handling">
  • Ability to work under pressure, multitask, and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines">
  • Strong organizational skills with basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office suite">
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills">
  • Ability to make decisions in accordance with laws, regulations, ordinances, and established procedures">
  • Calm and courteous demeanor when interacting with utility customers and municipalities">
  • Basic knowledge of modern office procedures and account posting procedures">

Estimated Salary:

$65,000 - $85,000 per annum
