About the Role

We are looking for an outstanding Teacher to lead the instruction of Afrikaans across multiple grades and classrooms. Second language teachers at Nova Pioneer drive a rigorous, enquiry-based learning environment, supported by Deans of Instruction who partner with them in their growth journey. Key responsibilities include designing impactful lessons, delivering engaging enquiry-based lessons, observing and coaching Apprentice teachers, and setting ambitious goals for students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with learning designers to design impactful lessons that enhance student learning.
  • Demonstrate expertise in delivering engaging and technology-supported enquiry-based lessons.
  • Coach and mentor Apprentice teachers, serving as a model for instructional excellence.
  • Foster a love of learning among students, encouraging academic excellence and enthusiasm.
  • Set and communicate high expectations for students, providing constructive feedback to promote growth.
  • Maintain ongoing assessment of student progress, adjusting instructional content and delivery techniques accordingly.
  • Engage in regular feedback meetings with Deans and learning designers to enhance teaching practices.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities, including daily team meetings and reflections, weekly professional development meetings, instructional coaching, and organization-wide learning and reflection.
  • Communicate effectively with parents through email, phone calls, and parent-teacher conferences.
  • Pursue opportunities for co-curricular programming, contributing to at least one activity per term.
  • Join various collaborative teams and committees, fulfilling supervision duties as assigned, including some morning, evening, and weekend events.
