Job Title: Tutor for Neurodivergent Child

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team at The Neurodiversity Centre as a Tutor for a 13-year-old neurodivergent boy. The successful candidate will provide academic support and create a nurturing environment that fosters the child's interests and needs.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Establish a trusting relationship with the learner
  • Communicate effectively with the child's school and maintain a calendar of assignments, tests, and due dates
  • Assist with breaking down tasks and implementing movement/sensory breaks as needed
  • Facilitate the child's understanding and academic learning in various domains
  • Support the child's executive functioning skills, including planning, organization, and problem-solving
  • Provide emotional support and scaffolding to help the child manage anxiety and uncertainty
  • Develop and implement visual resources and strategies to support the child's learning
  • Obtain necessary materials and resources for practical assignments
  • Occasional babysitting and childcare responsibilities
Requirements:
  • Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle
  • Fluent in Afrikaans and English
  • Previous experience working with neurodivergent children, preferably in a tutoring or au pairing capacity
  • Familiarity with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
  • Strong verbal communication, interpersonal, and tutoring skills
  • Strong written and executive functioning skills
  • Social and life skills, including relationship building
Working Hours:

Monday to Friday: 08:30 – 17:00, with flexibility to accommodate school holidays and occasional babysitting responsibilities
