Job Description

We are seeking a seasoned Compliance and Sustainability Specialist to join our team at Top Recruitment (Pty) Ltd. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of occupational health and safety in our manufacturing facility.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Compliance Monitoring: Ensure that all workplace activities adhere to the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) of South Africa, promoting a culture of safety within the organization.
  2. Risk Assessments: Collaborate with colleagues to identify potential hazards and develop strategies to mitigate risks, maintaining a safe working environment.
  3. Incident Management: Record and report all safety incidents, near-misses, and injuries, participating in investigations and recommending corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
  4. Safety Training: Coordinate employee safety training sessions, maintain records, and provide toolbox talks to ensure employees understand their roles in maintaining a safe workplace.
  5. PPE Management: Ensure employees have access to appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and monitor its usage to prevent accidents.
  6. Health Program Support: Facilitate workplace health programs, including wellness checks and medical surveillance as required, promoting a healthy work environment.
  7. Hygiene Standards: Monitor and maintain high hygiene standards within the workplace, adhering to health regulations.
  8. Emergency Preparedness: Assist in developing and maintaining emergency response plans, ensuring business continuity in case of unexpected events.
  9. Environmental Compliance: Ensure compliance with environmental legislation, such as the National Environmental Management Act (NEMA), reducing our impact on the environment.
  10. Waste Management: Monitor waste segregation, recycling, and disposal practices, implementing sustainable waste management systems.
  11. Sustainability Initiatives: Support company-wide efforts to reduce our environmental footprint, exploring energy efficiency and water conservation opportunities.
  12. Documentation Management: Maintain quality control documentation, including audit records, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and inspection checklists, ensuring regulatory compliance.
  13. Audits and Inspections: Assist in internal and external quality audits, ensuring readiness and adherence to industry standards.
  14. Non-Conformance Management: Record and track non-conformance issues, coordinating corrective and preventive actions to address any deviations from expected performance.
  15. Customer Feedback: Manage customer complaints and feedback related to product quality, resolving issues promptly and professionally.
  16. Data Management: Maintain SHEQ-related records, including incident reports, compliance certifications, and audit logs, providing valuable insights for continuous improvement.
  17. Reporting: Compile and distribute monthly SHEQ performance reports to management, highlighting areas of success and opportunities for growth.
Requirements:
  • Grade 12 qualification
  • Relevant professional certification (SAMTRAC, NEBOSH, or SHE Representative/Practitioner Certification)
  • Minimum three years of experience as a SHEQ Administrator in a similar packaging environment
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 & ISO 22000
Salary Range:

R8,000 to R8,500 per month, negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
