Job Overview

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Property Management Accountant. The ideal candidate will have strong administrative skills, excellent communication abilities, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administration (15%): General office administration, including filing, handling post, answering phones, courier logistics, and maintaining office orderliness. Assist the owner with construction-related administration, including coordinating quotes.
  • Rentals Administration (55%): Manage online property advertisements, coordinate viewings, draft and renew lease agreements using templates, maintain tenant statements, owner statements, and trust accounts, manage trust account bookkeeping, organize unit inspections, key handovers, and administrative follow-ups, coordinate unit repairs and maintenance, reconcile water and electricity accounts, handle arrears collections and process debit orders, communicate with owners about contract statuses and payments, maintain commission schedules and management contract summaries, address tenant and owner inquiries.
  • Complex Management (10%): Prepare and send monthly levy statements for complexes, manage maintenance and garden staff for complexes, follow up on outstanding levies and collections.
  • Bookkeeping (30%): Handle property transactions, development, construction, project management, and investments, multiple company books need periodic updates, including bank reconciliations, submit monthly PAYE returns, prepare payslips and IRP5s, submit VAT returns, handle bookkeeping using Pastel Accounting, prepare annual tax returns.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing various aspects of property administration, including rentals, complex management, and bookkeeping. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is highly organized, good with numbers, and enjoys administrative and bookkeeping tasks.

Requirements
  • National Senior Certificate (Matric) with Higher Grade Mathematics and Accounting (strong symbols).
  • B.Com or similar qualification advantageous.
  • Proficient in MS Excel and MS Word.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication in both Afrikaans and English.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Own reliable vehicle and valid drivers license.
Salary and Benefits
