Job Title: Senior Electrical Engineer

Job Summary:

The Senior Electrical Engineer will play a key role in supporting the full suite of electrical activities for EDF Renewables projects, with a focus on pre-construction. This includes delivering technical analyses and designs, as well as supporting the Head of the Engineering Centre of Excellence in coordinating work packages and reviewing and quality controlling within the team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project development: internal electrical design and optimization for PV, wind, and BESS projects, loss calculations, and cable sizing optimization.
  • Design Review: EBoP scoping and tender support, review and challenging of electrical designs from contractors, and conducting or overseeing feasibility studies and preliminary cost estimates for electrical and connection works during the development phase.
  • Review of specialized Power System/Electrical studies, such as Grid Impact Studies, Short-circuit studies, Protection Coordination, Insulation Coordination, Earthing Studies, Lightning Studies, Grid Code Compliance studies, and Power Quality.
  • Contract management/procurement: responsible for electrical and SCADA and PPC elements of Employers Requirements, external study management, defining scopes, analyzing quotes, and following up with deliverables from technical advisors.
  • Bid preparations: analysis and interrogation of information and pricing provided by contractors, ensuring full compliance of technical submissions.
  • Construction support: general support or electrical and SCADA topics during construction, support for scoping of the OE, support for quality assurance and milestone acceptance, and providing support during factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT).
  • Transverse Team: leading the transverse electrical team that makes links between various departments and projects to ensure lessons learnt are shared, and captured in procedures/templates/contracts, contributing to the definition and implementation of electrical engineering processes, and sharing experience and knowledge within EDF RE Electrical and SCADA community.

Requirements:

  • MSc Engineering or Equivalent.
  • PR ENG (Preferred).
  • 5+ years of professional experience in electrical engineering.
  • Strong design skills, experience with key software (e.g., Digsilent, AutoCad), and strong analytical skills.
  • Confident to challenge contractors, strong presentation and communication skills, calm under pressure, and able to prioritize and work transversally.
  • Ability to manage multiple and shifting priorities, with a strong focus on results and outcomes, effective time management, and ability to accurately judge appropriate quality level of deliverables.
  • Strong sense of discretion, professionalism, and confidentiality, good documentation skills in both oral and written English, and strong sense of determination to meet project milestones and goals.
  • Able to fill the space and take the lead on tasks, able to give and receive feedback, and positive and optimistic.

Reporting Relationships:

The position reports directly into the Head of Engineering CoE.
