About the Role:

The successful applicant will be responsible for managing project financials, including budgeting and forecasting, cost tracking, invoicing, and payments. They will work closely with project managers, quantity surveyors, and other stakeholders to support financial decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage project financials, ensuring all costs are captured, tracked, and reported accurately
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Prepare and monitor project budgets, providing regular updates on financial performance and identifying any discrepancies or areas of concern
  • Cost Tracking: Oversee project cost control, ensuring all expenses (labour, materials, subcontractors, etc.) are aligned with the project budget
  • Invoicing & Payments: Ensure timely and accurate invoicing to clients and the processing of supplier/subcontractor payments
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and present financial reports for each project, including cost-to-complete projections and profitability analysis
  • Liaison with Project Teams: Work closely with project managers, quantity surveyors, and other stakeholders to support financial decision-making and ensure seamless financial management throughout the project lifecycle

Requirements:

  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience as a Project Accountant, ideally within the construction or building industry
  • Qualifications: A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A professional qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) would be a plus
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, Procore, etc.) and advanced Excel skills
  • Attention to Detail: Strong ability to manage multiple tasks, with an exceptional eye for detail in financial documentation and reporting
  • Strong Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with internal teams, contractors, and clients

Salary:

R450,000 - R550,000 per annum, depending on experience
