Executive Head of Project Development

The Royal Portfolio is seeking a seasoned Project Development Director to spearhead luxury hospitality projects, collaborating with owners and management teams. This role requires a technical approach to managing projects, ensuring infrastructure growth and delivering on the company's purpose: providing guests with a complete experience.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Develop project scope, evaluating requirements and components
  • Create accurate project cost estimates
  • Manage building schedules, ensuring timely completion within budget
  • Monitor construction progress, adhering to safety and building regulations
  • Build relationships with suppliers, contractors, and local authorities
  • Coordinate Architects, Designers, Engineers, contractors, and stakeholders for seamless project execution
  • Research suppliers, sign off contracts, and oversee project payments
  • Oversee maintenance and effectiveness of solar plants, power generation systems, and other infrastructure
  • Collaborate with senior management on strategic planning and future development opportunities
Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical)
  • At least 10 years of experience in project development, preferably in luxury hospitality
  • Project management qualification and/or experience
  • A focus on luxury hospitality projects would be advantageous
  • A track record of delivering projects by managing multi-skilled contractor teams
  • Strong leadership qualities, comfortable motivating teams without direct reporting lines
  • A practical, technical, analytical mindset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of local building regulations and construction best practices
  • Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office365 suite
  • Strong budgeting and financial management skills
  • A valid driver's license and reliable vehicle
Location:

Head office in Claremont, Cape Town, with potential for extended travel to project sites

Estimated Salary:

R1,200,000 - R1,500,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications
