Senior Data Engineer I

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for continuous improvement of our Machine Learning Operations, encompassing versioning, testing, automation, reproducibility, deployment, monitoring, and data privacy.
  • Design and report on ML Ops metrics, including deployment frequency, lead time for changes, mean time to restore, and change failure rate, to inform data-driven decision making.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, data engineers, API engineers, and the dev ops team, to drive business outcomes.
  • Build scalable data ingestion and machine learning inference pipelines to support business growth and expansion.
  • Scale up production systems to handle increased demand from new products, features, and users, ensuring seamless customer experiences.
  • Provide visibility into the health of our data platform, offering a comprehensive view of data flow, resources usage, data lineage, and other key performance indicators.
  • Optimize cloud costs and automate the life-cycle of systems and platforms that process our data, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness.

Requirements:

  • Masters degree in Software Engineering, Data Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 5 years of relevant work experience in data engineering, machine learning, and software development.
  • Strong background in Scala and Python programming languages.
  • Experience with Apache Spark and/or Ray, as well as cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Knowledge of current principles and frameworks for ML Ops, including ML Flow, DVC, Grafana, DataHub, and Databricks.
  • Experience with machine learning technologies such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, and AWS Sagemaker.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, including Jenkins or Git Actions, and containerization or orchestration using Docker or Kubernetes.
  • Experience in improving data security and privacy, and managing and reducing cloud costs.
  • Knowledge of API development and machine learning deployment.
