We are seeking a seasoned Senior Application Support Director to lead our Application Support team in Port Elizabeth. This is an exceptional opportunity to drive service delivery excellence and contribute to the growth of our global operations.

About the Role:

This pivotal position demands a robust background in application support, technical acumen, and a strong grasp of ITIL principles. As the leader of the Application Support department, you will collaborate closely with regional teams to ensure seamless continuity and elevate the quality of services provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership & Management: Lead and manage the application support team, providing guidance, support, and performance feedback.
  • Establish a Strong Foundation: Focus on standardization of processes and adherence to ITIL best practices.

Operational Oversight:

  • Effective Service Delivery: Oversee daily operations of the application support team to ensure effective service delivery.
  • SLA & KPI Compliance: Ensure all application services meet established Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Collaboration & Communication:

  • Shared Service Centers: Work closely with teams in other regions to coordinate support efforts and share best practices.
  • Liaison with Development Teams & Stakeholders: Collaborate with development teams, service owners, and product owners to ensure alignment on service delivery and application performance.

Point of Contact for Escalations:

  • Complex Issue Resolution: Serve as the primary point of contact for escalations, managing complex issues and providing resolution guidance.
  • Incident Management: Act as the incident manager during emergencies, leading teams through critical situations.

Performance Monitoring & Continuous Improvement:

  • Trend Analysis & Process Improvement: Identify trends and areas for improvement within the support processes and implement necessary changes.
  • Culture of Continuous Improvement: Promote a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging team members to contribute ideas and initiatives.

Training & Development:

  • Team Training Needs Assessment: Assess team training needs and coordinate training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Mentorship: Mentor team members, fostering a culture of professional growth and development.

Service Transition Management:

  • New Application Onboarding: Manage the transition of new applications, ensuring smooth onboarding and support readiness.

Monthly Service Reviews:

  • Regular Service Review Meetings: Schedule and conduct regular service review meetings with application owners and stakeholders to assess the performance of services, address concerns, and plan for future optimizations.

Technical Expertise:

  • IT Research & Product Knowledge: Ability to conduct and direct research into IT issues and products as required.
  • System Efficiency: Become efficient in the use, workflow, and capabilities of the system used for support.

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven Experience: Proven experience in application support management.
  • Customer Support: Strong customer support experience.
  • Technical Skills: An understanding of different message formats advantageous.
  • Mathematical Calculations: Ability to perform general mathematical calculations for business cases, budgets, etc.
  • ITIL Principles: Familiarity with ITIL principles and practices.
  • Leadership Skills: Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
