Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Corn Farming and Drying Expert to join our team at Farm Manager SA.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to lead our corn farming and drying initiatives, working closely with local farmers, suppliers, and stakeholders to improve production practices and increase yields.

Responsibilities
  • Investigate and understand current local corn farming systems, identifying areas for improvement and proposing innovative solutions.
  • Develop and implement training programs to educate local corn farmers on best practices, including sustainable agriculture techniques and efficient drying methods.
  • Manage a small team of extension staff and collaborate with government extension staff to promote adoption of new practices.
  • Set up and manage a research and development farm for corn, serving as a demonstration site for new technologies and techniques.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to improve the quality and efficiency of corn drying processes.
  • Collaborate with our communications team to leverage social media and other channels to promote best practices among local corn farmers.
Requirements
  • BSc in Agriculture or related field.
  • Proven experience in corn farming and drying, with a strong understanding of local practices and challenges.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and train teams.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify opportunities for improvement and develop effective solutions.
  • Computer literate and proficient in administrative tasks.
Benefits
