Job Title: Retail Operations Manager

Armstrong Appointments is seeking an experienced Retail Operations Manager to oversee multiple sites, encompassing multi-store levels, including franchised brands of retail, quick-serve restaurants, supermarkets, and filling stations.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Negotiate and secure profitable contracts with suppliers and partners.
  • Manage and resolve CCMA cases in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Oversee multiple regions and site management portfolios, driving sales and profitability through business optimization.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance current operations, turnaround failing businesses, and lead companies into new markets.
  • Build a self-reliant network of franchisees that support each other's successes and under-performing gaps.
  • Establish and maintain standardization of key supplier, contractor, and costing specification models for all national food brands.
  • Implement promotional strategies, new operational manuals, operations standards inspection audits, and food training programs for franchisees.
  • Focus on customer service excellence, franchisee KPI achievement, brand compliance, staff recruitment and training, and launching stores and site selections.
  • Ensure franchises achieve optimal GP margins by implementing turnaround strategies, improving existing processes, renegotiating supplier contracts, facilitating forums and regional meetings, and delivering sales-focused short-term strategies.
  • Manage back-end areas, including P&L, marketing, promotions, product development, visual merchandising, national inventory management, Health & Safety, audits, legislative inspections, brand development, and competitor analytic review.
  • Lead the launch, opening, management, and optimization of retail outlet conversions, including inspections and audits.
  • Oversee all franchisees, evaluating performance, driving product innovation, preparing annual regional sales budgets, and managing brand activities.
  • Provide operations advice on key financial and operational areas, such as merchandising, minimizing expenses, planograms, store layout planning, driving sales, margin improvements, poor store turnarounds, maintenance standards, procurement, and marketing.
Requirements:
  • Position-related tertiary qualification required.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in a Regional/Area/Operations Manager role.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in Franchisee/Fuel/Retail Operations.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Availability to travel between sites and regions.
  • Computer literacy in MS Office and Google Suite.
  • Point of Sales/Arch/Winbox/AURA/GAAP experience (advantageous).
