Job Description

In our Mpumalanga operation, we are seeking an experienced Plant Operator to join our team.

The primary goal of this position is to ensure the safe and efficient operation of our plant, resulting in high-quality chrome production.

To achieve this, you will be responsible for:

  • Safety Protocols: Attend daily safety meetings before each shift, adhere to company policies, and maintain a clean work environment through proper housekeeping.
  • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Work in accordance with established SOPs to guarantee smooth operations.
  • Maintenance and Upkeep: Unblock inlet chutes using hand tools after plant shutdown, physically clear chokes on pipes to ensure continuous feed, and report hourly readings to the control room.
  • Machine Monitoring: Observe machines, listen for unusual sounds, and report any issues to prevent downtime and damage.
  • Belt and Feed Management: Check the belt's running condition, remove unwanted objects, and follow start-up procedures.
  • Risk Assessment and Compliance: Conduct risk assessments at the beginning of each shift, implement Stop-Look-Assess-Manage (SLAM), and adhere to health and safety standards.
  • Handovers: Perform a thorough handover at the end of each shift.

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience as a Plant Operator in the mining industry.
  • Knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act and Mining Regulations.
  • Grade 12 (preferably) or equivalent qualifications.
  • Completed in-house courses up to 3 weeks (preferably) or on-the-job training lasting 3-9 months (preferably).
Estimated Salary: R350,000 - R450,000 per annum
