Merchandise Planner Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the buying team to drive sales growth, optimise inventory levels and enhance profitability.
  • Analyse merchandise performance, identify trends and propose actionable insights.
  • Develop, communicate and implement effective product strategies that align with business objectives.
  • Manage range size and assortments to ensure optimal stock levels.
  • Provide weekly and monthly trade feedback with associated action plans.
  • Oversee financial and strategic management of products, including product planning, allocations and budget control.

Requirements:

  • Matric certification.
  • A relevant 3-year tertiary qualification.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience as a Merchandise Planner, with a proven track record of success.
  • High level of numeracy and analytical skills, with a strategic approach to work.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.
  • Strong aptitude for ERP systems, including Planning, Allocations and Buy-Plans.
  • Excellent business acumen and merchant thinking.
  • Good organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proven decision-making ability.

Estimated Salary: R550,000 - R750,000 per annum, depending on experience. We offer a competitive benefits package, and preference will be given to candidates from designated groups in terms of the Employment Equity Act.
