**Main purpose of the job**:

- To effectively lead the financial and grant management of projects and/or programs within WDED, including subcontractor’s management

**Location**:

- **31 Princess of Wales Terrace, Parktown - Johannesburg**

**Key performance areas**:

- Budget preparation and management_
- Liaise with the project director regarding the submission of the budget, financial and narrative reports specific to the project
- Liaise with the relevant donor representatives regarding budget approval, contract approval, and transfer of funds
- Provide Cash flow projections to the syndicate head/donor
- Ensure all grants and contracts are registered on the database and kept up to date
- Manage the expenditure and reporting requirements regarding the grants
- Maintain finance and procurement systems -:_
- Perform random compliance and financial checks with regards to petty cash
- Manage the development/maintaining of financial and procurement internal control systems
- Liaise with project managers on compliance issues such as budgets and expenditure
- Compile financial and donor reports -:_
- Compile financial reports for donors as per donor requirements and submit them in a timely manner
- Ensure expenditures are accurate and allocated to the correct account
- Compile monthly management reports and send them to project managers and syndicates head
- Collect and collate all relevant data from the accounting system
- Adhere to donor rules & regulations as per contracts
- Liaise with all relevant stakeholders -:_
- Communicate with donor representatives around grant management issues
- Liaise with suppliers when necessary
- Co-operatively review project reports and modify where necessary
- Effective compliance with donor requirements -:_
- Communicate with donor representatives around grant management issues
- Compile financial policies and procedures which are in line with donor and WDED requirements
- Ensure that policies and procedures are implemented with regard to donor requirements e.g., USAID
- Ensure compliance with donor requirements in terms of reporting
- Ensure all projects are ready for internal and external audits

**Required minimum education and training**:

- **Com (Accounting) Degree or equivalent qualification in the related field**

**Required minimum work experience**:

- **Minimum 5 years experience working in a finance department**:

- **Experience working in a donor-funded organization or NGO would be advantageous**

**Desirable additional education, work experience, and personal abilities**:

- Knowledge of Microsoft Office especially Excel and Accounting packages
- Should be able to deal with clients, donors, and staff at all levels
- Should be self-motivated and able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Should have basic legal knowledge with regards to contracts
- Incumbents should possess strong administrative and financial reconciliation skills
