Operations Lead - Picking

**Business Overview**:
This is a busy, fast paced operation which offers many challenges and opportunities for the right person. This position is based at Ndlovu Park, Pietermaritzburg.

**Purpose**:
To plan, co-ordinate, manage and report upon the work activities of the team, providing effective communication, leadership, motivation, training and development. To direct, co-ordinate and plan the Operation through effective scheduling of employees, planning of all functions and control of employees and supervisors. To optimize all resources to ensure that the Operation is managed effectively and that customer service standards are achieved and maintained. Ensure that all contractual KPI targets are achieved and maintained in accordance with the Service Level Agreement. To work in conjunction with other Management / Departments to monitor, develop and allocate work to a group of subordinates in specific areas.

**Key Accountabilities**:

- Manage the daily shift operations, including customer planning requirements
- Meet and exceed operational service levels and manage the cost of labour
- To drive and deliver team culture
- Consistently achieve established KPI’s for productivity and accuracy
- To comply with and communicate statutory and Company Policies and Procedures
- Change management
- Budget Management
- Compliance with Standard Operating Procedures
- Monitoring stock counts i.e. Planning, Preparation and Physical counting of stock
- To manage HR issues - Industrial Relations
- Build Team morale
- Delivery of a safe, clean and fair work environment
- Maximise accuracy, productivity and space utilization
- Compile, manage and submit relevant reports and statistics to Management on a daily, weekly and monthly basis
- Report any breach of Health & Safety regulations and incidents / accidents
- Management of staff
- Provide a high quality customer service to clients by means of reports
- Deliver team member performance reviews and development
- Work in collaboration with other DHL sites to maximise efficiencies and best practices
- Take ownership to deal effectively with queries, requests and complaints
- Translate, analyse and deliver customer needs through effective operations
- Ensure daily and weekly workload planning and volume forecasting routines are accomplished
- Effective leadership and management of the operational and administrative teams
- Give support, share knowledge and skills to other team members
- Honesty - pride in your job and an eye for detail
- Team building and development through succession planning
- To work within operating areas as determined by Management and the needs of the Business
- Maximise accuracy, productivity and space utilization
- Adhere to site DHE rules and best practices
- Ensure that product safety, quality and integrity is not compromised
- Report any persons behaviour that may impact on the safety, quality or integrity of the stored product

**Qualifications, Experience & Attributes**:

- Matric
- Tertiary qualification in Logistics / Warehouse Management / Supply Chain Management
- 3 -4 years Warehousing / Logistics / FMCG environment
- 3 - 4 years in a Managerial role
- Excellent HR and IR skills
- Knowledge of the Clients requirements and Customer needs
- Project management
- Workload Planning
