Legal Advisor

Helloan exciting new opportunity has just become available in our Insure, Business Assurance area. We are looking to recruit a Legal Advisor Role Objectives This function will be focused on assisting the business to manage its legal risk. Legal risk is the risk to business resulting from any of their rights not being fully enforceable, or from their obligations not being properly performed. These rights and obligations can flow from legislation, regulation, litigation, complex claims, contracts, common-law, IP management, case law etc Monitor legal (contractual) compliance with the support of the contract manager, compliance manager and Assurance Team Report on legal matters to Business Assurance Manco and other Insure forums Represent Insure legal at claims forums, policy wording forums and the Internal Adjudicator Forums Continually build long-term quality and trusted relationships with all stakeholders (branches, specialist areas and all other Insurer divisions requiring legal support) bearing in mind relationships are a key part of this position and the ability to influence stakeholders through proper relationships be a key performance indicator Legal training to stakeholders
- both on existing laws and regulations as well as draft ones Coordinate and manage the process for upcoming and draft regulations and legislation Together with the compliance team assist in the embedment of new laws and regulations through providing interpretation guidance, summary impact communication and opinions Deliver on key stakeholder requirements Drafting, vetting and signing off commercial contracts, policy wordings and regulatory agreements Provide legal advice and interpret legislation, policy wordings and complex claims scenarios IP support with the assistance of the Central Legal Team Assist with the management of litigation by appointing attorneys, monitoring legal fees and providing instruction on such litigation Project manage special ad hoc projects where applicable and appropriate for Insure legal Customer service and TCF Ensure compliance with all Group Legal and other governance policies and interact with Group compliance and legal where required to insure alignment**
Required Knowledge and Experience**:
Minimum of 3 to 5 years Legal experience, of which 3 years within Insurance Preferential to have performed Senior Legal role before, either in insurance of broader financial services**
Educational Requirements**:
Bcomm / LLB Degree and having been admitted as an attorney
