**Job Summary**:

- Nedbank is seeking a professional to undertake Nedbank’s operational sustainability and reporting requirements. The individual in this role will foster a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration throughout the organisation to identify and implement opportunities for sustainability while building important relationships with external stakeholders and meeting the organisations / ESG / sustainability reporting obligations.**Job Purpose**:

- To support the fulfilment of the bank’s Purpose by integrating best practice sustainability considerations / practices across the bank
- To build meaningful connection with internal and external stakeholders through the sustainability agenda.
- To build the group’s sustainability capacity through research and shared learning
- To build the groups reputation through leading reporting and disclosures

**Responsibilities**:

- To be instrumental in developing and leading the Group’s operational progress as it relates to Nedbank’s Purpose-led strategy through:
**Reporting**:

- Managing Nedbank’s overall ESG / sustainability reporting and disclosures (including Integrated and Sustainability reporting, ESG Data disclosures such as DJSI and FTSE For Good, GRI etc) working closely with Group Finance, Investor Relations and other internal teams
- Reporting on key strategic outcomes/results to various stakeholders (staff; stakeholders; shareholders, NGO’s, suppliers, clients and communities) through reports and presentations.
- Internal reporting and report back to relevant committees and governance structures.
- To provide advice on implementation of existing and emerging sustainability reporting frameworks.

**Research and Analysis**:

- Keeping abreast of global and local systemic thinking, sustainable development trends and sustainability reporting best practice in order to identify new opportunities and emerging risks and ensure Nedbank remains a corporate sustainability leader.

**Tracking and Measurement**:

- Tracking progress and implementation of the sustainability initiatives aligned to the Nedbank Strategy

**Communication and Engagement**:

- Developing and managing the execution of internal communication and awareness to drive systems intelligence at the bank.
- Working with the Nedbank Communication Team to build external communication plans as related to sustainability activities at Nedbank
- Representing Nedbank and the Sustainability team on internal and external fora and reporting back on developments.
- Presenting internally and externally on sustainability related topics
- Managing sustainability related external web presence and internal intranet and other related channels.
- Managing key external partnerships and sponsorships such as the WWF and GBCSA

**Training**:

- Contributing to the building and delivering of sustainability / ESG related training and education programs for the leadership and for staff to promote sustainable development knowledge.

**Requirements**:

- Bachelor's degree in a related field such as environmental science, environmental engineering, sustainability, or related business field
- At least 5 years of experience in sustainability reporting and implementation within a corporate environment
- Knowledge of sustainability standards and their applicability to the sector (i.e., GRI, ISSB, IIRF, JSE Climate and Sustainability Disclosures)
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to build relationships, engage with stakeholders, and create reports that are accessible and understandable
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to establish clear priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with carbon accounting, sustainability market analysis, and stakeholder engagement a benefit
