Equipment Supply Manager

The overall objective of the Equipment Supply manager role is to effectively manage and oversee the day to day (also nightshift) transport and equipment delivery operations. This includes the short and medium-term planning and scheduling of daily, weekly and monthly equipment delivery operations. This includes the productivity of drivers and their vehicles; maintenance schedules of resources; solving queries, client interaction, supplying equipment according to a demand plans/schedules and cross functional business integration, in order to deliver exceptional service within clients’ SLA.
Passionate leadership, attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure are key characteristics required for this position. Resourcefulness, confidence and delivery of exceptional service to internal and external stake holders is essential in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Comprehensive management of scheduled and adhoc equipment supply
planning, transport integration and tracking of equipment deliveries to GLS
clients including internal transfers.
- Lead, manage and control the work performed by delivery resources & staff
members within the equipment supply operation and GLS joint operations
centre (JOC).
- Generate, update, know and understand relevant SOPs (Standard
Operating Procedure) and comply to it.
- Manage and prioritize critical client requirements on short notice.
- Ensure that all staff are well managed to continuously improve
productivity.
- Ensure that all IT and hardware systems supporting equipment supply
and transport are working correctly.
- Ensure that all Health and Safety policies and procedures are adhered to.
Conduct regular team talks and Safe Work Procedure (SWP) discussions
with teams.
- Ensure all administration is completed, signed and submitted on time.
Update operational reports daily and submit required reports to clients,
management and internal departments.
- Implement corrective actions to increase productivity and efficiencies.
- Continuously innovate and improve ways of work to increase value and
service offering.
- Implement and monitor policies and procedures for a healthy working
environment.
- Manage adherence to budget.
- Insurance claims, traffic fines, vehicle maintenance
Qualifications and Experience
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Management, Logistics or Supply Chain related Diploma/Certificate will be advantageous.
- Tertiary B.Com Logistics Degree will be advantageous
- Requires 3-5 years of experience in an operational environment (preferably retail logistics & distribution), with proven leadership/supervisory experience or demonstrated ability to supervise multiple teams and a considerable staff and resource compliment
