**Mechanical Draughtsman**

Full time position based in Midrand, Johannesburg
- OffWorld is a robotics startup working on developing a mobile robotic workforce for heavy industrial jobs on Earth, Moon, asteroids & Mars. OffWorld was founded by an experienced engineering team drawing on decades of tackling formidable engineering challenges at NASA, ESA, NOAA, Maxar Technologies, CERN, Reaction Engines, SAFRAN, Surrey Satellites and Cisco. OffWorld’s first challenge is developing and maturing a modular robotic system for extreme environments on Earth. Our robots will go deeper underground and further on Earth than humans can, eliminate the need for humans to work in life-threatening environments in mining, construction, tunneling and other dangerous industries, and dramatically reduce the environmental footprint and cost of operations in key economies on Earth and beyond._

**Responsibilities**:

- generate conceptual and detailed CAD designs.
- design optimisation for manufacturing/industrialisation.
- generate detailed manufacturing drawings.
- generate and maintain BOMs.
- attend after hour meetings with clients in different time zones (max 4hr/week).
- hands on assembly in workshop.
- supplier outreach and liaison.
- updating of various relevant templates.

To hit the ground running, you need:

- N5/N6/NDip or higher in mechanical engineering or draughting
- Knowledge of welding standard will be advantageous.
- Solidworks(preferred) other CAD software (will be considered)
- MS office
- 2+ years working in a mechanical drawings office
- Experience in a manufacturing environment will be advantageous i.e. welding/machining
- Knowledge of welding standards will be advantageous
- Takes initiative
- Self-motivated
- Flexible and adaptable
- Interpersonal Communication skills
