**What We're Looking For**:
Universities throughout the world partner with Trilogy Ed. (a 2U, Inc. brand) to provide technical upskilling programs, commonly called Boot Camps, in disciplines such as web development, data analytics, financial technology, or cybersecurity.

We are seeking someone with experience using and/or teaching common tools commonly used in the field of Web Development to help support our Boot Camp students by providing code review on their projects, meeting 1:1 for pair programming sessions, and/or providing feedback to our Curriculum team to ensure students are learning the most relevant technologies and best practices.

This role is a full time position in our new office in Cape Town with complimentary barista service, a canteen, on-premises gym, and much more.

**Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To**:
You will be working with our 3 centralized student support teams - Tutors, Learning Assistants, and Graders. These central teams provide Boot Camp students with support via video chat, Slack, and other proprietary platforms. Below, each of the individual roles of the team are described.

Tutor Team: As a Tutor, you will be working with students over video chat for 50 minute 1:1 sessions. Students will bring questions relating to their weekly homework assignments, class exercises, group projects, and more. Tutors help with both technical and non-technical skills, such as success strategies for the boot camp or interview prep.

Learning Assistant Team: As a Learning Assistant (LA), you will work in our proprietary platform, AskBCS, to support student questions in Slack. Written questions are posed by students in a separate Slack workspace. These are routed into a centralized location where our LA team fields the questions, begins written back-and-forth conversations, and helps to direct students to find solutions. At times, video chat is used between students and LAs when written conversations would be less effective.

**Things That Should Be In Your Background**:

- 1-3 years of experience using the following technologies in a professional setting and/or teaching these technologies in an academic or professional setting.
- Web Development
- HTML
- CSS
- JavaScript
- Node.js
- React.js
- SQL
- MongoDB
- React.js
- AWS, Heroku, or other cloud deployment solutions
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Empathy, emotional intelligence, patience, understanding and the ability to impart your knowledge to learners

**Other Attributes That Will Help You In This Role**:

- Experience mentoring Junior developers, such as through code review, pair programming, or teaching
- Agility and willingness to adapt to change, shift course, alter approaches and assume new responsibilities.
- Ability to self-manage and self-motivate.
- High level of reliability and personal responsibility.

Working Conditions
- The schedule for this role varies based on student and team needs; however, there may be short breaks throughout the work day. Occasional and rare travel may be needed (non-essential travel is limited due to COVID-19).
- In the event of an unavoidable absence due to an emergency, religious holiday, or unexpected scheduling conflict, the Boot Camp Instructional Staff must notify their Manager and reschedule any tutorial sessions that will be affected by their absence.

Physical Requirements
- This role will primarily be sedentary using a computer, keyboard, and virtual tools to perform most duties.

Management Responsibilities
- Management of students assigned for tutoring. Scheduling of students along with providing arrangements for tutorial sessions is the sole responsibility of the FT TLG.
