**_ Position Purpose:_**
- Provide the accountability framework and oversight to ensure that security risks are adequately mitigated and that
security-related decisions are aligned to the overall business strategy and culture of the organisation.
- Provide effective protective security as a key enabler to making Transnet Freight Rail (TFR) a safe and better place to work.
- Provide transversal oversight over the processes of developing, approving, and storing the TFR’s Security and Forensics
policies, procedures, security risk management processes and/or standards (MISS & MPSS), information classification and
- vetting, security strategic frameworks, security contract coordination, and other governance-related documentation.
- Ensure compliance with legislative standards and policies
- The main focus areas are:
- Establishment of security Compliance and Vetting to support structures across the Organisation.
- Development and review of security policies and standards.
- Embedding security risk management in TFR.
- Effective communication and roll-out of Security and Vetting Policy, Frameworks, and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Enhanced security compliance reporting.
- Establishing a mechanism for monitoring both the performance of outsourced security services and adherence to the
essential security requirements of service contracts.
- Establishing and embedding a contract risk management across the organization.
- Monitoring and reviewing contract risk management framework and standards.
- Enhanced contract risk management reporting.
- Provide administrative support to the office of the General Manager.
**_ Position outputs:_**
Security compliance and Vetting Management Support; Planning and Strategy; Monitoring and Evaluation.
- Establish departmental goals, performance objectives, scorecards, and best practices that are based on Company Policy
and strive towards achieving them.
- Oversee, assist, and supervise all functional managers in planning and performance to achieve all departmental goals and
objectives.
- Draft and regularly review internal policies based on relevant legislation, e.g. Minimum Information Security Standards.
Advises management about amendments to such policy.
- Manages the total departmental financial and human resources in terms of planning, coordinating, and control.
- In conjunction with the General Manager, develop and execute a multi-year protective security policy framework to assess
and mitigate security risks, manage crises and incidents, maintain continuity of operations, and safeguard the organization.
- Directs departmental staff in identifying, developing, implementing, and maintaining security processes, practices, and
policies throughout the organization to reduce security risks, respond to incidents, and limit exposure and liability in all areas
- of information, financial, physical, personal, and reputational risk.
- Develops relationships with the Office of the General Manager and various security stakeholders (state, private & internal).
- Through subordinate managers, coordinates and implements site security, operations, and activities to ensure the protection
of executives, managers, general employees; customers; stakeholders; visitors, as well as all physical and information
- assets, while ensuring optimal use of personnel and equipment.
- Establish an effective security system, including the vetting of certain staff members following the MISS.
- Represent the department at certain corporate organizational forums and manage matters of strategic importance.
- Provide leadership in aligning the activities of the department to the overall mandate, role, and functions of the department.
- Develop and manage the day-to-day departmental operations.
- Coordinate the development of job profiles; recruitment; training and evaluation of staff.
- Ensure compliance with national regulations and reporting requirements.
