Position Purpose:_**
To provide strategic leadership in the development, implementation and management of a robust Compliance Framework
(“the Framework”) and Methodology.
Provide assurance to management and internal governance structures that compliance requirements are adequate and
effectively implemented and monitored.

Position outputs:_**
1. Lead the development and implementation of a robust Compliance strategy for TFR, aligned to Transnet and TFR
strategy.
2. Provide input and influence the review of the Compliance Policy and Framework to ensure that it addresses TFR specific
needs.
3. Drive the development, approval and implementation of an annual risk based Compliance Plan.
4. Develop, implement and maintain a Compliance Risk Management Strategy, aligned to risk management principles and
business need. Ensure that compliance risk is appropriately managed and mitigated.
5. Create and sustain an ethical and compliance driven culture in TFR through the identification, implementation and
management of identified initiatives (e.g. compliance training and awareness).
6. Review and analyse current regulatory requirements to determine applicability to TFR and establish the TFR Regulatory
Universe in consultation with relevant stakeholders.
7. Analyse newly proposed or amended regulatory requirements, and influence where necessary to ensure the best possible
position for TFR.
8. Ensure full compliance with applicable regulatory requirements by facilitating the implementation of the Compliance Policy
and Framework, with specific focus on Compliance Risk Identification and Assessment, Compliance Risk Management and
Compliance Monitoring.
9. Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to develop action plans to respond to regulatory changes and to address
deficiencies in compliance with internal controls.
10. Develop and sustain relationships with regulatory authorities. Facilitate the management of regulator engagements.
11. Analyse business processes to determine:
Areas of compliance;
Possible risks for non-compliance; and
Actions to prevent non-compliance;
and advise business process owners appropriately.
12. Devise and implement methodologies and processes, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, to ensure monitoring of
compliance to regulatory requirements applicable to TFR and the implementation of remedial action in respect of
non-compliance.
13. Ensure the existence of efficient internal reporting structures for reporting on TFRs compliance levels and adherence to
regulatory requirements, policies and procedures.
14. Prepare, submit, attend and present compliance reports to relevant governance committees on compliance issues.
15. Develop and conduct compliance training and awareness in accordance with the annual training plan.
16. Ensure availability of competencies and capacity required to achieve departmental goals and targets.
17. Establish an effective team, manage their performance, drive developmental initiatives as required, and embed the
values and behaviours required to create positive team cohesion.
18. Coach and mentor employees to drive effective performance.
19. Determine and manage the Departmental budget.
20. Ensure all compliance records are kept and stored safely.

Qualifications & Experience:_**
B-degree in Law or Business Management.
Certified Compliance Practitioner / Professional or accredited with a Professional Body that has fit and proper standards.
A postgraduate qualification in Compliance, Audit, Legal or Ethics will be an added advantage.
At least 12 years’ experience in Compliance, Audit, Legal or Ethics of which at least 5-7 years should be at a senior
management level.
Requirement of trust and honesty in the handling of finances as per the National Credit Act Amendment 19
Must undergo Lifestyle Audit.
