Roles and responsibilities
**A research studies supervisor is expected to**:
Acquire and maintain an up-to-date understanding of the BA programme by completing the AFDA onboarding process and attending all staff training sessions
Lecture first, second and third year BA motion picture medium and BA live performance degree students on research studies including the Evam pedagogy of narrative,performance, medium, aesthetics and control
**Administration of group feedback sessions**: concept pitches, final pre-production presentations, and final review
Assessment of written and practical work across the undergraduate school
Management of the online learning and communications platform - my.afda - for research studies.
Conducting student consultations and reflective meetings
Preparing content and lesson plans for each term
Providing administrative support to the program coordinator
Creating and managing attendance registers, class management and tutorial administration
Sourcing of external examiners and ad hoc lecturers
Timetable planning
Exam scheduling
Research and development/enhancement of the curriculum
Participate in quality assurance and quality enhancement practices
Participate in working with counterparts to ensure parity across all campuses on term outcomes and assessments.
Participate in all required marketing activities such as open days and consultations with prospective students where required
Oversee the campus library and help students with queries, requests and access to
AFDA is looking for a committed and dedicated lecturer with industry experience to lecture and provide support to first, second and third year undergraduate students.
The position requires someone with drive and initiative who is able to motivate students and help them establish and engage with different theories presented by research studies.
There is also a strong emphasis on cultural relevance within the teaching, and the need to help the students identify and develop a distinctive African voice to their productions. In this way we hope to be able to contribute to nation-building and build the
foundations for a sustainable local entertainment industry.

A minimum of a bachelor’s degree (honours)
Established work experience in tertiary education.
Industry and / or knowledge of the film/television and/or performance industries
