- Responsible for providing overall software release management for the Colmpany's Smart Platform Systems. The software release manager will be looked to for guidance and decision-making on major issues related to the planning, execution, and delivery/deployment of the SmartMine IoT Platform and Software Solutions. Will maintain an ongoing work plan and will ensure that all activities of the software release management lifecycle are carried out is in alignment with the goals and objectives of the business unit as defined by the Head of the Smart Platform Solutions Strategic Business Unit. This individual will be a key contributor to the team for planning, budgeting, and other general management issues, as well as in mentoring others in software release management practices.- Key Performance Areas:
- Project:
- Creates and executes project work plans and revises as appropriate to meet changing requirements. Manages resources in conjunction with functional managers, production and sub contractors. Manages day-to-day operational aspects of software release and deployment project and scope. Effectively manages project risk through mitigation planning. Monitors and reports on schedule and cost, margins and profitability. Effectively applies Project Management and DevOps Software Release Management methodology. Prepares for engagement reviews and quality assurance procedures. Ensures project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately-
**Inherent Requirements**
- Minimum Qualification required:
- Computer Science or Software Engineering Degree.- Minimum Experience Required:
- 4+ years’ experience in DevOps and Software Development.- 4+ years’ experience in Project Management and Software Release Management.- Extensive experience managing in a cross-functional team environment, which includes but are not limited to DevOps, Platform as a Service, Software as a Service, IT networking and hardware.- Project Management Certification from a recognized institution/association.- Experience with Agile Scrum methodologies- Competencies (Skills, Knowledge, Attributes) Required:
- Financial Management:
- Understands cost-to-completion projections and makes decisions accordingly. Communication Facilitates team and client meetings effectively. Holds regular status meetings with project team. Keeps executive team informed of project progress and cost status. Understands how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully.- Technical Understanding:
- A background in Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Software as a Service (SaaS), DevOps environments, Kubernetes, Apache Kafka. Exposure to INCOSE and PMBOK methodologies would be beneficial. Experience with Jira and Confluence.- Leadership:
- Challenges others to meet targets under all circumstances. Manages the development of the team by ensuring, when possible, that project tasks are in line with each contributors’ capabilities and/or interests. Inspires co-workers to attain goals and pursue excellence.- Team work:
- Consistently acknowledges and appreciates each team member's contributions. Effectively utilizes each team member to his/her fullest potential. Motivates team to work together in the most efficient manner. Keeps track of lessons learned and shares those lessons with team members. Mitigates team conflict and communication problems. Encourages “straight talk” among team members.- Client Management:
- Effectively works with team and functional managers to ensure that relevant communication with the customer (internal & external) is done in a timely and appropriate manner.**What Qualification**
