Overview

Due to expansion and growth in the company, I have an exciting opportunity for an experienced **Merchandiser**. The company develops products and product solutions to the retail industry (Fashion, Sport, Outdoors, Lifestyle and Leisure).

**Key Performance Areas (primary objectives):**to be measured against developed KPIs
- Business development and customer liaising (across buyers)
- Product merchandising and range building (start to finish)
- Product and supplier development with landed costing calculations
- Sampling and order planning relaying across the team to ensure smooth production
- Creating and managing the critical path in-line with budgets and deadlines
- Liaising with the internal teams and overseas factories in the Far East
- Taking full responsibility of the final product delivery and any issues that may arise
- Communicating account management/merchandising issues to all levels of the business in a clear
and concise manner

**Role Responsibilities**:

- Protect and grow existing business against set sales and GP% targets.
- Develop new markets, customers and product opportunities
- Follow trends and map these to customer handwriting
- Present customers with timeous presentation of viable product range offerings
- Oversee product and creative work that builds on a diverse and dependable supplier base
- Evaluate and report on the financial health of product performance and stock availability
- Implement and monitor strategy directives, ensuring resources are met and monitoring risk

**Resource Responsibilities**:

- Guide product development and optimum performance of the design team
- Oversee sourcing and optimum performance of the team and supplier relationships
- Coordinate and report across multiple projects to ensure they are aligned with strategy and budget
- Work closely with and support production and shipping lead
- Work closely with and support dispatch and warehousing lead
- Feedback to director and stand in senior team member

**Skills and Experience**:

- Already have experience within a wholesale merchandiser role or account manager position
- History of trade shows and comp shopping in overseas High Street stores (travel experience)
- Experience working with retailers in a supply set up (entrepreneurial)
- Strong organisational skills and handles pressure well with attention to detail
- Displays initiative and works well in a team, reporting upwards with commercial awareness
- Strong computer literacy with excellent written and verbal skills (cloud-based systems)
- Ability to work with deadlines and priorities, being calm and assertive
- Knowledge of the functions, operation and mission of the import and retail industry.
- Demonstrated knowledge of economic, budgeting, and accounting principles and practices.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities, giving feedback and taking accountability.
- Thorough understanding of diverse business processes and strategy development, results driven.
- Good understanding of research methods and data analysis techniques, quality management.
- Evidence of the ability to practice a high level of confidentiality.

**1. New Business Development**
- Develop new markets, customers and product opportunities
- Responsible for seeking out new customer accounts and new products to bring to new and existing markets.
- Always seeking market gaps and product opportunities.
- Maintaining existing customer account relationships through regular face to face meetings and telephone calls.
- Tracking sales against budgets and previous year’s sales monthly.
- Champion companies CRM system, ensuring accurate and up to date data.
- Request business intelligence reports to facilitate new business development and current customer maintenance.

**2. Design and Range Building**
- Follow trends and map these to customer handwriting
- Present customers with timeous presentation of viable product range offerings
- Ensure a clear understanding of all customers “handwriting”.
- Ensure all buyers “Buying Calendars” are in hand and calendared in the CRM.
- Ensure timeous contact is made with each buyer in line with their buying calendar in order to contribute to their range build and to ensure that opportunities to be “planned in” are not missed.
- Stay on top and ahead of fashions and trends through the following methods:

- Desktop researching (continuous and ongoing)
- In store local comp shopping (at least once per month)
- Online and Magazine subscriptions
- Visiting overseas fashion hubs (at least once per annum)
- Travel to Trade Shows and undertake factory visits (at least once per annum).
