Participating with management in the development of policies including marketing.
- Implementing a successful department vision/strategy through strong leadership skills
- Development and approving recommendations to change systems, policies and procedures; and ensures timely and accurate implementation
- Participating in the development and maintenance of operating budget and capital spending plan
- Planning the logistics, procurement, and manpower requirements necessary for the farms production and continued operation of the business
- Driving work schedules and prioritizing workload and spread within cellar and vineyards
- Identifying and obtaining staff capable to accomplish objectives
- Monitoring and ensuring achievement of performance goal and objectives either directly or through subordinate staff
- Overseeing and handling projects that have short to long term focus
- Working with local and states agencies, you will be responsible for all regulatory and compliances issues, including but not limited to the handling of hazardous materials, pesticide use reporting, stock take, storage, vineyard employee safety program and other compliance issues needed. In particular the manager of cellar wastewater.
- Ensuring compliance with IPW and WIETA and similar audit requirements
- Ensuring employee conformance to establish best practices and proper training of staff
- Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory compliance
- Responsible for ensuring that staff understands the standards of work expected of the, and their role in compliance
- Manage the vineyards and groves and adhere to the recommendations of consultant viticulturist and poison specialist on a weekly basis: pest and disease management, fertilization weed control, pruning, canopy management, irrigation, crop estimates, field monitoring, harvesting and other tasks needed. This will involve instruction to farm staff, any subcontractors and arranging teams as necessary as well as their supervision
- Monitoring of irrigation, trouble shooting and maintenance of water (drinking, irrigation and wastewater quality)
- Maintenance of vehicles and equipment such as Workshops management. Tasks include ensuring that tractors are operational, the fleet of vehicles is licensed, running and roadworthy. The estate manager is also required to do preventative maintenance on the tractors, equipment and fleet
- Responsible for collecting and compiling vineyard data and statistics, including but not limited to phenological information, irrigation records, fertilization records, petiole analysis etc.
- Responsible for acquiring and maintaining certification of all vineyards and wines as well as other sustainable farming certificates as deemed important to the organization
- Management of farm's workshop including paint, umbrella repair and tool stores
- Responsible for building management including: Maintenance and record keeping of farm's power system, fuel consumption (including gas). Maintenance of farm's building, air conditioning ans swimming pools. Maintenance of farm's infrastructure such as roads and signage, Maintenance of gardens.
- Using computer skills such as MS word, excel and powerpoint as required

Essential qualifications, skills, and experience:

- A relevant tertiary qualification
- Knowledge and experience of relevant quality systems (IPW) and other regenerative viticulture techniques
- Machine harvesting
- Good planned, Agile, Problem identifier and solver, Attention to detail and precision
- Driver's licence (preferably code C or PDP)
- Forklift license
