**_ Position Purpose:_**

Lead and manage the implementation and development of sustainability initiatives including energy management, waste

management, carbon management, water strategy, climate change adaptation strategy and biodiversity management,

energy security, and carbon mitigation strategy. To support the business to plan, regulate, manage and monitor the business’
electrical and diesel energy consumption related to buildings, properties, and equipment utilization.

**_ Position outputs:_**

3.1. Development and implementation of TP Climate Change and Natural Capital strategy for energy, carbon, climate

change adaptation, water, waste, biodiversity, green supply chain, and sustainability risk in collaboration with Corporate.

3.2. Analysis of natural resource data and design of measurements and improvement initiatives

3.3. Ensuring that natural resource response initiatives impact positively on the business, operational efficiency, investment

decisions, and reputational capital.

3.4. Provide support to incorporate analysis of global risks into TP's risk approach to enhance robustness and flexibility in

decision-making processes to current and planned operations, property, and infrastructure.

3.5. Assist in the implementation of TP / Business’s energy policy and standards in alignment with Transnet policy, TP
business plan, and accordance with best practice.

3.6. Provide support for embedding sustainability into business processes including Project Life Cycle (PLP), Private Sector

Participation (PSP) projects, supply chain, and risk

3.7. Provide support in the implementation of a standardized approach to mature sustainability management of water,

biodiversity, waste, and supply chains.

3.8. Provide support in the implementation of a standardized approach to mature sustainability management of water,

3.10. Assist in the implementation of ISO 50001 in the business by best practice.

3.11. Support the business regarding the green building initiatives in the design, construction, and refurbishment projects.

3.12. Drive the business’s Sustainability awareness campaigns
3.13. Audit and analyze energy consumption profiles of the business to identify current energy utilization and identify

wastage.

3.14. Analysis and identification of existing processes and equipment utilization that are negatively impacting energy

utilization. Propose an engineering solution and lead the implementation processes.

3.15. Identify possible solutions to optimize energy usage and energy sourcing to achieve required energy savings.

3.16. Present proposed solutions and revised processes to business management to influence the implementation of

identified initiatives.

3.17. Support the implementation of change management initiatives to instill a culture of saving within the business.

3.18. Lead in the inputs to the Business and Regional EXCO on the company’s Sustainability Strategy and Sustainability
Development Outcomes.

3.19. Prepare Business’s Sustainability Report as a formal start to the reporting and monitoring system to be implemented
as part of the company’s Sustainability Strategy
3.20. Coordinate activities with other disciplines in the business to integrate and effectively utilize the sustainability model in

all projects

3.21. The individual will be responsible for ensuring adherence to sustainability and energy policies, procedures, and

protocols.

**_ Qualifications & Experience:_**
- NQF 8 B.Eng/ BSc degree in Engineering or Built Environment or Environmental engineering or sustainability, climate

change with 8-10 years experience is required
- A minimum of 8 - 10 years of working experience in the fields of corporate strategy, climate change, or sustainability in

companies of a similar size and complexity to Transnet is required.
