**About the Role**

Are you looking for a role where you can directly contribute to the servicing of Swiss Re Corporate Solution's growing customer base in South Africa? In the role of Head: Operations you are responsible for ensuring the delivery of end-to-end Operations services to the local teams and to lead the Underwriting Support Team (Business Services). You and your team support the Underwriting teams based in South Africa in the handling of direct insurance business for corporate clients. You are a member of the South African Management Team and a strong contributor to move the entity to the next level.

This position may require some travel for business meetings or training.

**Main Responsibilities**

In the role of Head of Operations, your main responsibilities include the following:

- Ownership of South African business operations, leading the Business Services Team to support key business initiatives
- To develop an operational strategy for the South African business
- Achieve best in class service delivery working with centralized, outsourced and third-party functions/teams
- Hosting of engagements with both our regulators and supervisory authorities
- Coordination of regulatory and/or supervisory returns
- Driving efficiency improvements across technical accounting, underwriting support, claims operations and strategic initiatives, whether through technology, process or organizational refinement

**About the Team**

In EMEA Operations, we provide support to the Swiss Re Corporate Solutions (CorSo) Underwriting and Claims Teams in the handling of insurance business for corporate customers. Our duties and responsibilities directly have an impact on the productivity, process efficiency, timeliness, profitability, and accuracy of CorSo's Underwriting and Claims process and ensure a seamless delivery of services to our clients and brokers.

- Bachelors Degree (Undergraduate, Honours)
- Minimum 8 years relevant experience within the financial services industry, preferably insurance; previous leadership experience a must
- Proven track record in end-to-end operations management, ideally supplemented with knowledge in business services, underwriting processes and claims processing.
- Fully proficient in English (reading, written and verbal)
- Able to prioritize, plan, coordinate and monitor personal work plan to lead all aspects of multiple activities
- Attracts, selects, develops, and retains outstanding talent to meet current business needs and prepare for future challenges and growth goals
- Excellent computer skills - Microsoft Office (Access, MS Project, and Visio is a plus)

- Regulatory & Key Individual exams (RE5 & KI)
- Lean, Business Process Management or Six Sigma certification
- Post-Graduate Business qualification #LI-Hybrid
