Radio Frequency

As a Radio Frequency (RF) Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the robustness and continuous availability of all Information Management (IM) network infrastructure components across our mining operations. This role involves comprehensive support, maintenance, licensing, and governance of RF communications to facilitate critical mining processes. **Contract position until December 2024.**

**Key Outputs and Accountabilities**:

- **RF Network Planning**: Design RF networks ensuring optimal coverage, capacity, and performance considering the region's geographic and demographic characteristics.
- **Frequency Spectrum Management**: Efficiently manage the allocation and utilization of the frequency spectrum to minimize interference and maximize network performance.
- **RF Performance Optimization**: Monitor and optimize RF performance metrics, implementing strategies to enhance signal strength, quality, and reduce interference.
- **Troubleshooting and Maintenance**: Provide expert troubleshooting and regular maintenance of RF communication systems to ensure uninterrupted operations.
- **Regulatory Compliance**: Ensure all RF communication adheres to relevant regulations and standards, including licensing and emission limits.
- **Collaboration**: Work closely with network operations, engineering, and regulatory teams to coordinate and resolve complex RF-related challenges.
- **Technology Configuration**: Configure a range of wireless technologies, including MESH networks, access points, and point-to-point links.

**Requirements**:
**Capability Requirements**:

- **Qualifications**: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or related field.
- **Certifications**: Desirable qualifications include Rajant Certification; familiarity with GSM, CDMA, LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth standards.
- **Technical Skills**:

- Strong proficiency in RF theory, modulation techniques, antennas, and transmission lines.
- Experienced in using RF measurement and simulation tools (e.g., spectrum analyzers, ADS, HFSS).
- Ability to deliver and manage IM services, hold vendors to account, and enhance IM processes continuously.
- **Industry Knowledge**: Experience in mining, oil and gas, utilities, or other heavy industries with substantial physical assets is highly desirable.
- **Safety Knowledge**: Must be a role model in safety practices, demonstrating an understanding of the importance of maintaining safety standards.
