Health, Safety and Environmental Officer

Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement comprehensive health, safety, and environmental policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and industry best practices.
2. Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify and mitigate potential health, safety, and environmental hazards.
3. Provide training and guidance to employees on health, safety, and environmental practices, ensuring that all staff are informed and competent in their responsibilities.
4. Investigate and report on all incidents, accidents, and near-misses, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
5. Establish and maintain strong relationships with local environmental authorities and regulatory bodies to stay informed of relevant regulations and industry trends.
6. Develop and implement waste management and pollution control strategies to minimize the organization's environmental impact.
7. Facilitate the implementation of environmental management systems, such as ISO 14001, and ensure ongoing compliance.
8. Prepare and submit all required health, safety, and environmental reports and documentation to relevant authorities.
9. Serve as the primary point of contact for all health, safety, and environmental matters within the organization.
Qualifications and Experience:
1. Relevant tertiary qualification in environmental management, occupational health and safety, or a related field.
2. Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Health, Safety, and Environmental Officer or a similar role, with a strong focus on environmental management.
3. Thorough understanding of relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation, regulations, and best practices.
4. Proficient in the use of risk assessment and management tools, as well as data analysis and reporting.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with employees at all levels.
6. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
7. Possession of a valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle, as travel to various sites may be required.
