**MAIN PURPOSE OF THE POSITION**
Responsible for implementation of EHS standards, procedures and protocols, ensuring that the people and the site is legally compliant and satisfies Environmental, Health, Safety and Quality procedures, standards and processes. Actively drive the implementation and the sustainability of the EHS & Quality Management System. Responsible for establishing an on-going assessment of the implementation of the EHS & Quality Management System requirements.
**CORE ACTIVITIES WILL INCLUDE**:
- Promoting a safe working culture amongst personnel through EHS and Quality awareness promotion and training.
- Compile and maintain the site EHS & Quality Training Matrix and collaborate with Human Resources to ensure that legal compliance training is conducted.
- Assist /conduct EHS & Quality training as required.
- Perform EHS site inspections to ensure compliance with the EHS processes and policies.
- Enforce compliance to EHS & Quality policies, procedures, rules and regulations to all employees and concerned parties.
- Participate in the development and review of EHS & Quality guidelines, communications, safe systems of work and standard operating procedures.
- Ensure the Company complies with its statutory obligations in areas pertaining to Environment, Health and Safety
- Ensure that all accidents/incidents/Non conformances are documented, investigated and recommended corrective/preventive actions are implemented.
- Conduct EHS Internal audits, facilitate Quality internal audits, ensure non conformances are closed out and communicate effectively with management on audit findings.
- Ensure the completion and regular review of EHS & Quality Risk Assessments for all work equipment and operations.
- Provide relevant information for monthly EHS reports.
- Accountable for supervision, administration and record keeping on area specific EHS audits, inspections, reports, certifications, permits to works, etc.
- Contractor Management: Conduct audits on contractor safety files against EHS specifications to ensure contractor legal compliance. Review contractor safety files periodically and/or as and when required.
- EHS rep management: Assist and guide the Safety Representatives in carrying out their duties and issuing reports. Receives and consolidates identified issues for escalation to manager and submission to SHE committee, Arranges and chairs the monthly SHE committee meetings.
- Establish and maintain the EHS & Quality documentation, including standard operating procedures, work instructions, inspection reports and quality records.
**QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED**
- Matric qualification
- Certificate/Diploma/Degree in Occupational Health, Safety and Environment
- HIRA certificate
- Root Cause analysis (5Whys, Fishbone etc)
- Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (Samtrac /Nebosh)
- Knowledge of implementing ISO Systems (ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001)
**COMPETENCIES REQUIRED**
- Proficient in MS Office.
- Extensive knowledge of EHS regulations and policies
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong understanding of data and the ability to drive processes.
- Good conflict resolution skills
