Business Development Specialist role in Rosebank Johannesburg

**Overview**:
A business development specialist is an expert who determines opportunities for marketing strategy

optimisation and business growth. The specialist performs business process and financial analysis,

effective network creation and business plan implementation to bring in new business.

**Responsibilities and duties**:

- Research and identify new business opportunities - including new clients, growth areas, trends, partnerships, products and services - or new ways of reaching existing clients
- Seek out the appropriate contact in an organisation
- Planning and preparing presentations
- Communicating new product developments to prospective clients
- Overseeing the development of marketing literature
- Writing reports
- Providing management with feedback
- Generate leads and cold call prospective customers
- Meet with customers/clients face to face or over the phone
- Foster and develop relationships with potential clients
- Understand the needs of potential clients and be able to respond effectively with a plan of how to meet these
- Think strategically - seeing the bigger picture and setting aims and objectives in order to develop and improve the business
- Work strategically - carrying out necessary planning in order to implement operational changes
- Have a good understanding of the businesses' products or services and be able to advise others about them
- Discuss promotional strategy and activities with the marketing department
- Seek ways of improving the way the business operates
- Maintaining key client relationships and networks in existing and new markets within the

industry.
- Attend seminars, conferences and events where appropriate
- Keep abreast of trends and changes in the business world and at different potential clients.

**Skills**:

- Tenacity and drive to seek new business and meet or exceed targets
- An excellent telephone manner for making initial contact and for ongoing communication

with customers and business associates
- Interpersonal skills for building and developing relationships with clients
- Written and verbal communication skills - needed for communicating with a range of

people, both internally and externally, as well as presentation skills
- IT skills, including the use of spreadsheets
- Teamworking skills and a collaborative approach to work
- The ability to multitask and prioritise your workload
- Project management and organisational skills
- The ability to motivate yourself and set your own goals
- Negotiating skills
- The ability to think strategically
- A flexible approach to work with the ability to adapt to a fast-paced, ever-changing

environment
- Initiative and the confidence to start things from scratch.

**Experiences**:

- 5 years of business development experience with an existing network
- Knowledge of the investment industry and financial markets
- Technical Investment experience
- Sales experience
- Business Degree is essential

- Attention to detail

**Salary**: R60,000.00 - R65,000.00 per month

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Rosebank, Gauteng: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (preferred)

**Experience**:

- Sales: 5 years (required)
