**Position Summary**
**The Barman’s job duties vary according to the requirements of the company and in respect of the employees’ skills set. The job duties include but are not limited to the below mentioned meaning that within reason, the company may request assistance in other areas of the business should the need arise.**
Key Responsibilities
KPA 1: Cleaning, Food Preparation and Laundry Services
- Wash, clean, prepare necessary food ingredients
- Assist or prepare the necessary beverage requirements
- Assist with cooking when requested
- Special diet meals and supplements are prepared and marked
- The employee follows the procedures for services in the Laundry
- The employee familiarises him/ herself on the knowledge in the use of chemicals i.e. dilutions, quantities etc.
- The employee adheres to allocated duties according to the roster
- The employee executes the daily production plan of Kitchen, Cleaning and Laundry (Laundry: collect, sort, wash, dry and iron) efficiently and according to required standards
**KPA 2: Hygiene and Food Safety**
- Make use of the correct chopping boards
- Clean and sanitize work surfaces and equipment
- Complete control sheets designated to you
- The employee has the necessary knowledge of safe cleaning practices
- Handling and storage of food according to the food safety standards
- Correct handling and storage of chemicals
- Clean all equipment and store all equipment away
- Report all maintenance or breakage problems of equipment
- Good personal hygiene and appearance
- Full uniform to be worn and kept clean at all times (this includes name badge and closed shoes)
- Adopt good recycling principles
**KPA 3: Time and Attendance**
- Be on time at work
- Accurate daily completion of attendance registers (i.e.: completed at the time of starting a shift or ending a shift and not before the shift starts or ends)
- The employee reports his/her absence on time
- The employee does not abuse sick leave
**KPA 4: Teamwork, Training and Development**
- Assist colleagues with achieving team goals and assist where necessary in the kitchen, dining room or other
- Attend training & development sessions and employee meetings
- Shows an interest in training and personal development (completion of personal training log book which is a non-negotiable in the performance evaluation process)
- Able to work in and as part of a team to achieve excellence in Relationship Directed Support (relating to the Business Purpose mentioned above)
**KPA 5: Client Service**
- The employee is friendly, courteous and helpful towards residents, clients, guests
- Assist with dishing up, serving and distributing meals as arranged, per instruction and on time
- Accurate mixing of beverages using the correct range of ingredients
- Taking orders from customers and serving drinks as requested and paying attention to detail in a timely manner
- Interact with customers and serve snacks on request
- Provide a positive and friendly guest experience by interacting with patrons
- Correct moving or setting of tables / trays, tablecloths, crockery/cutlery and glassware
- Ensure the water jugs are filled with fresh cold water
- Check, fill & clean the salt and pepper pots and condiment containers when required
**KPA 6: Administration**
- Report and complete the necessary forms for safety and maintenance
- Document/ report any additional food/ beverage items issued to guests, clients or residents
- Receiving of stock or signing of invoices when requested or required
- Beverage inventory as well as crockery & cutlery stock takes to be done on a weekly basis
- keep a well stocked bar with adequate supply and identify low stock levels
- collect money for ticket purchases
- comply with food and beverage regulations
- clean and organise the bar area to streamline serving and inventory
- Daily cash up of booklets and cash to be done
- Keep the breakage document up to date.
- Record wastage and stock returns and assist with lowering wastage and variances
- Updating of personal details and information to ensure accurate company records
