Duties/Pligte- Manufacturing and debugging of systems and subsystems for research projects (e.g., electrical, electronic and PCB circuits);- Providing advice and guidance regarding electronic and/or mechanical design to colleagues and students;- Maintaining and repairing machinery and equipment;- Providing technical and logístical support to students with practicals and project work;- Undertaking occasional project-related local travel.- For the Senior Technician, the following additional duties:
- Designing, or assisting in designing, systems and subsystems for research projects;-
- Assisting with managing the workshop;-
- Supervising / mentoring technical staff.-
Vervaardiging en ontfouting van stelsels en substelsels vir navorsingsprojekte (bv., elektriese, elektroniese en PCB-stroombane);- Bied raad en leiding aan kollegas en studente rakende elektroniese en/of meganiese ontwerp;- Die onderhoud en herstelwerk van masjinerie en toerusting;- Bied tegniese en logistieke ondersteuning aan studente met praktika en projekwerk;- Onderneem af en toe projekverwante plaaslike reise.- Vir die Senior Tegnikus, die volgende bykomende pligte:
- Ontwerp, of hulpverlening met die ontwerp, van stelsels en substelsels vir navorsingsprojekte;-
- Hulpverlening met die bestuur van die werkswinkel;-
- Toesighouding oor / bied mentorskap aan tegniese personeel.Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes- Technician:
- National Certificate in Electronic or Mechatronic Engineering (NQF level 5 or equivalent), or higher;-
- At least three years' technical experience in support of a technical qualification.-
Senior Technician:
- National Diploma in Electronic or Mechatronic Engineering (NQF level 6 or equivalent), or higher;-
- At least seven years' technical experience in support of a technical qualification;-
- At least two years' experience in taking responsibility for the execution of projects.-
The ability and willingness to learn new skills and to undergo further training;- The ability to interpret mechanical drawings for the manufacturing of parts or sections of instruments;- The ability to work independently and in a group setting;- Good general computer skills (e.g., MS Office);- Experience with interpreting electronic circuits and manufacturing electronic systems;- Experience with electronic-related Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software (e.g., Altium, KiCAD);- Good communication skills;- The ability to handle physically demanding work;- Effective planning, prioritising and time management skills;- Experience in a manufacturing workshop environment;- A valid driver's licence.Tegnikus:
- Nasionale Sertifikaat in Elektroniese of Megatroniese Ingenieurswese (NKR-vlak 5 of gelykwaardig), of hoër;-
- Minstens drie jaar se tegniese ervaring ter ondersteuning van 'n tegniese kwalifikasie.-
Senior Tegnikus:
- Nasionale Diploma in Elektroniese of Megatroniese Ingenieurswese (NKR-vlak 6 of gelykwaardig), of hoër;-
- Minstens sewe jaar se tegniese ervaring ter ondersteuning van 'n tegniese kwalifikasie;-
- Minstens twee jaar se ervaring daarn om verantwoortelikheid te neem vir die uitvoering van projekte.-
- Die vermoë en bereidwilligheid om nuwe vaardighede aan te leer en om verdere opleiding te ondergaan;- Die vermoë om meganiese tekeninge vir die vervaardiging van onderdele of dele van instrumente te interpreteer;- Die vermoë om onafhanklik en in groepsverband te werk;- Goeie algemene rekenaarvaardighede (bv., MS Office);- Ervaring met die interpretasie van elektroniese stroombane en vervaardiging van elektroniese stelsels;- Ervaring met elektronies-verwante rekenaargesteunde ontwerp (CAD) sagteware (bv.,Altium, KiCAD);- Goeie kommunikasievaardighede;- Die vermoë om fisies veeleisende werk te hanteer;- Effektiewe beplannings-, prioritiserings
- en tydbestuursvaardighede;- Ervaring in 'n vervaardigingswerkswinkel-omgewing;- 'n Geldige rybewys.

Recommendation/Aanbeveling- Experience in the manufacturing of high-frequency hardware, e.g., antennas, waveguides, etc.;- Manufacturing experience in using a variety of isolating and conducting materials;- Experience in a training environment;- Mechanical experience;- Experience with mechanical-related Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software (e.g., AutoCAD, Inventor).Ervaring in die vervaardiging van hoëfrekwensie hardeware, bv. antennas, golfleiers, ens.;- Ervaring in die gebruik van 'n verskeidenheid isolasie
